Hamilton publishes Sustainability Report 2024

With the 2024 Sustainability Report, Hamilton underscores its commitment to responsible action and shaping an innovative future. Guided by the purpose “We drive innovation to improve people’s lives.” the company demonstrates how environmental, social, and economic responsibility are deeply embedded in its corporate philosophy.

Four pillars of the sustainability strategy

Hamilton’s sustainability strategy is built on four core pillars: Planet, People, Innovation, and Profit. At the heart of its strategy are ambitious climate targets: Hamilton Bonaduz AG and Hamilton Medical AG have committed to reducing their emissions in line with the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi, aiming to cut Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 42% by 2030.

Commitment to Net Zero future

In 2024, Hamilton reinforced this commitment by officially pledging to the SBTi’s Net Zero goal – a significant step toward a climate-neutral future. By the end of 2025, concrete long-term reduction targets will be defined, and all measures will be consistently aligned with this objective.

Significant CO2 emissions reduction

The company succeeded in significantly reducing its CO2 emissions compared to the previous year – particularly in the area of purchased goods and services (Scope 3.01). This reduction was made possible by improved data quality, more precise classification, and the implementation of initial effective reduction measures.

Award for sustainable production site

In 2024, our production site in Domat/Ems was awarded the Swiss Solar Prize. The building meets the high standards of Minergie-P- and Minergie-A certification. The photovoltaic systems on the roof and facade generate approximately 1.17 million kWh of carbon-free solar electricity annually, with an impressive self-consumption rate of 89%. The state-of-the-art, fully automated production at the new facility not only reduces emissions and energy consumption but also increases efficiency and workplace safety. Smart building technologies, groundwater heat pumps, and electronic facades contribute significantly to energy savings.

Focus on employees and diversity

Hamilton is also making strong progress in the social dimension: with over 130 continuing education agreements and the introduction of 60 clearly defined career paths, the company offers its employees attractive development opportunities and actively promotes diversity and equal opportunity.

Strengthening responsibility in the supply chain

Additionally, the supplier code of conduct was revised to further strengthen ethical standards along the entire value chain.

Recognition by EcoVadis

Another success: In the EcoVadis sustainability rating, Hamilton Bonaduz AG improved its score by 16 points to 66 out of 100 – earning the Bronze Medal for the first time. As a result, the company now ranks among the top 20% of all assessed companies.

Sustainability as a promise of quality

With the 2024 Sustainability Report, Hamilton reaffirms its goal of actively shaping the transformation toward climate-responsible and future-ready industry. At Hamilton, sustainability is understood as a promise of quality – for innovative solutions, dedicated employees, and a livable future.
