This vision was really ahead of its time.
An E-bike Ride to the Day Care Center and Then to Work
For Romana Feurer, it’s simply the commute to work. For her daughters, it’s a mini adventure every time. She’s talking about her e-bike ride from Tamins to Bonaduz.
It’s 8:00 a.m. Romana Feurer is riding her e-bike through the hilly landscape outside Bonaduz with her daughters in tow in the child trailer. The scenery is simply idyllic. Her daughters are singing to themselves while enjoying the passing countryside. To the left, the Montalin mountain lying to the east of Chur peeps out from between the clouds. To the right, a farmer is bringing home his harvest. Now and then, a cyclist races up to them and flashes past. “My daughters love being in the trailer and thinks it’s really cool to ride with me from Tamins to Bonaduz.” For Romana herself, the morning ride is a good way to warm up and clear her mind before work.
The three of them enjoy these hours in the morning together. Romana takes her young daughters with her from Tamins to Bonaduz once a week. Not only is Bonaduz home to her employer Hamilton Medical, it’s also where the day care center is. “Being able to ride to work, and on such a beautiful route, is quality of life at its best.”
She says that reconciling family and work is very important to her when choosing an employer – Hamilton offers her exactly what she needs. “It’s great that I can let the little ones sleep in. We don’t have to stress. If we leave half an hour later, it’s no problem neither for the day care center nor Hamilton – thanks to flexitime. I’m very grateful and appreciative that they make it not only possible but also so straightforward.”
Romana works as a documentation specialist in the Quality department at Hamilton Medical. It’s an important job in an international company that produces ventilators. The life-saving equipment needs to meet strict standards, and things like processes and working procedures need to be documented highly accurately. And that’s precisely where Romana comes in.
Romana likes her work and wants to learn more by doing further education. “I appreciate this, too. At Hamilton, you get tough challenges but also lots of support, even if you only work part-time.”
Another thing that makes Hamilton so special in Romana’s eyes is the international flair. “I like being able to use my English every day and that we have so many different languages and cultures under one roof.”
Having joined Hamilton in 2014, she says: “I can definitely imagine working at Hamilton for many years to come. Not least because of the many opportunities on offer here.”
