In 2023, the Hamilton companies reinforced their commitment to a more sustainable future through important measures.

Aligned with the 1.5°C pathway:
Climate protection and the reduction of CO₂ emissions are among the most critical challenges of our time, and we recognize our responsibility in this area. For this reason, the Hamilton companies committed to the reduction targets of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2023.

In October 2023, SBTi validated our CO₂ reduction targets for 2030 within the framework of its new 1.5°C criteria. Following a comprehensive validation process, the company’s targets for 2030 were successfully assessed according to SBTi’s rigorous standards. Hamilton Bonaduz AG and Hamilton Medical AG are committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions under Scope 1 and 2 by 42 percent by 2030, based on the baseline year of 2020. For Scope 3, we aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 52 percent within the same timeframe.

Concrete Measures
Numerous measures were implemented in 2023 or prepared for the future. Below, we present two examples that illustrate what sustainable action means in practical terms:

• Reduction of External Energy Consumption: Measures to reduce external energy consumption were introduced at all sites, including the expansion of photovoltaic (PV) systems in both Switzerland and Romania.
• Alternative Raw Materials: We identified opportunities to use bio-based raw materials as alternatives to fossil-based raw materials in our consumables.
