Visit from Sri Lanka: Exchange on Future Focused Vocational Training
30.01.2026The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka visited our site in Domat/Ems. The agenda included a short production tour and a professional exchange on Switzerland’s dual vocational education system.
During a brief tour of the production area, Andreas Stoffel (Director Special Projects Hamilton Medical Innovation and Development and Operations) demonstrated how precision, innovation, and quality come together in the manufacturing of ventilators. In the following discussion, Ilaria Cerullo (Young Professional Specialist) explained how Hamilton trains, supports, and develops apprentices through hands‑on learning.
Prof. Dr. sc. techn. Tobias Leutenegger from the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons added insights into career paths after an apprenticeship – from advanced certificates to university‑level degrees. His message was clear: vocational training opens doors. It combines practical experience and high quality, offering diverse career opportunities at Hamilton and beyond.
International Dialogue
The delegation from Sri Lanka, with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya as its most senior representative and accompanied by Hon. Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando (Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning) and Marco Ruocco (Swiss Asian Chamber of Commerce), was particularly interested in how Switzerland’s dual education system works and how Hamilton applies it in practice.
The Prime Minister described the exchange as highly interesting and valuable and indicated that Sri Lanka is considering introducing a similar program to strengthen vocational education in the country.
