Technology Meets Talent

The STEM Week at Hamilton inspires young inventors from Graubünden.

Things were buzzing at Hamilton in Bonaduz last week: as part of the STEM Week organized by the University of Teacher Education Graubünden, 12 students had the chance to spend four days exploring Hamilton behind the scenes — and getting hands-on experience. In total, around 120 children from across the canton took part in the camp, spread across various companies in Graubünden.

What’s it all about?

Hamilton has been actively supporting young talent in STEM subjects for many years. With the camp, we not only create a space for playful, practical learning, but also a platform for inspiration and future opportunities. Under the guidance of Beat Sulzer, participants got to experiment, program, and tinker.

    Getting hands-on

In our own training workshop in Bonaduz, the students learned how to connect electronic components, handle a soldering iron safely, and program simple circuits. They drilled casings, assembled components, and tested their self-built devices. The highlight of the week: each child built their own electronic pencil case — complete with LED lights and a circuit they had soldered and programmed themselves. Along the way, they gained not only technical insights but also a sense of teamwork, precision, and the importance of quality.

    Investing in the next generation

The STEM Camp is far more than a holiday activity — it’s a meaningful opportunity for children to experience technology up close. At Hamilton, they get exciting insights into the world of innovation and can actively take part themselves. Who knows — perhaps one of these young inventors already holds the spark for a future career as a developer or engineer.

Riding teaches you patience and that progress takes time. I also take that into my job. Sometimes you have to take a step back in order to move forward in the long term.
