How you can make a difference:
As a medical research engineer in our team, you will be part of an interdisciplinary research and development team working on the challenges of tomorrow's mechanical ventilation.
You will work with engineers, scientists, and physicians to design, test, and validate innovative physiological closed-loop control systems for automated mechanical ventilation.
You will be responsible for incrementally developing a model-based simulation environment to objectively assess controller performances. Additionally, you will be responsible for test-driven development of innovative physiological closed-loop controllers. You will then be involved in testing and validating these controllers, initially in a testing environment and later in a clinical environment as part of a clinical study.
That’s what you bring along:
To be considered for the role, you must have the following qualifications and experience:

A university degree in systems-, control- or biomedical engineering, or in a closely related field

A PhD or at least three years of working experience in a relevant field

Well-founded programming skills in MATLAB and Simulink

Programming skills in C/C++ or similar languages
-
Independent, solution-oriented, and methodical way of working

Fluency in English
Additionally, you will have an advantage if you have any of the following qualifications or experience:

Knowledge of control theory

Experience in developing various types of controllers (such as PID, fuzzy, adaptive, predictive controllers, etc.)

A high level of independence in problem solving

Experience in data acquisition and processing
-
Research or development experience in mechanical ventilation or medical devices

Experience in conducting or participating in clinical studies
-
Knowledge of medicine, respiratory physiology and/or mechanical ventilation
-
German language skills
