Hardware Developer

Hamilton Central Europe is located in Timisoara, Romania and develops and produces microliter syringes, needles, dosing pumps, pipetting modules and accessories for analytical and research laboratories, as well as accessories for medical devices used in intensive care units. In addition, we provide financial accounting services for the Hamilton companies.
Job Description:
- Develop hardware for new products and redesign existing hardware to address obsolete components, with a focus on both layout and schematic design.
- Create and analyze product schematics, ensuring they align with product requirements and engineering specifications.
- Perform layout design and component placement using tools like Mentor Graphics Xpedition, ensuring optimal power distribution, signal integrity, and manufacturability.
- Conduct power dissipation simulations, worst-case analysis, and ensure thermal management and EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) considerations are integrated into designs.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and cross-functional design teams to ensure seamless integration across product stages.
- Ensure compliance with product safety standards, organizing EMC, thermal management, and safety testing with external contractors.
- Validate hardware designs, replacements for obsolete components, and coordinate functional testing with layout designers to ensure design integrity.
- Maintain released designs, including updates and validation, managing technical aspects of deploying new hardware technologies and systems efficiently.
Professional experience & skills desired to have:
- Technical university degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in schematic design and development, including familiarity with best practices for signal integrity, power distribution, and manufacturability.
- Hands-on experience with layout design tools, preferably Mentor Graphics Xpedition, for PCB design and placement.
- Practical involvement in the product development process, including collaboration with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, and design).
- Experience with hardware validation, functional testing, and coordinating external contractors for EMC, thermal, and safety testing.
- Familiarity with managing component obsolescence, identifying replacements, and maintaining released designs.
- Ability to perform power dissipation simulations, worst-case analysis, and troubleshoot complex hardware issues.
- Strong communication skills and experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Good English skills are essential; German is a plus.
- Creative, proactive, self-responsible, and able to think critically while maintaining a positive attitude.
